Event Details
This walk is spectacular and very adventurous, because we will go down to sea level half abseiling and the climb up is tough and steep. With the sunset it’s even more spectacular! Ses Balandres means the ferns, because there are a few different types in the shady moist crevice that we descend through. We will also see many other plants not observed much in Ibiza due to the unique conditions here.
Together with Toby we start at the Church at Santa Agnes. We pass the island’s oldest well built by the Moors. The views from the top of the cliffs is wholly spectacular with the crescent shaped Margalides islands 150 metres below and out to sea.
Then the descent starts within a deep gorge and we go all the way down to sea level, the last section by half abseiling. The rockface has steps carved into it which makes it much better than it sounds. At the bottom there are a few fisherman’s huts and boat launching ramps. The rock strata is particularly interesting as it is very convoluted due to powerful upheavals many thousands of years ago. The climb up will be tough, but there are many places to rest on the twisting path.
Feel free to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy at the break along the way, while watching the sunset and relaxing with the cava we provide! Please bring your own glass/cup.
